Best bets for the All Star Mile and Coolmore Classic

March 15, 2019 | By More

All eyes are on Flemington, to see how the All Star Mile fits into the scheme of Australian racing.

Meanwhile, at Rosehill the fillies and mares provide a very intriguing and competitive race in the G1 Coolmore Classic.

Why don’t you try Neds this weekend? It has the complete tool box for punters to make sure you have everything you need to be successful on the punt.

The G1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill

The Coolmore Classic, as it has been known since 1996, is steeped in history!

From Emancipation and Bounding Away, through to Sunline and Typhoon Tracy.

Each ‘Horse of the Year’ winners, the race has been won by some of the best female sprinter-milers to have raced in the last 45 years.

And this year’s edition stacks up with any of the previous editions of the race.

The form lines you are looking to focus on are the Millie Fox and the Guy Walter, and from Melbourne the Mannerism Stakes.

In this years edition when you analyse the form you end up with Jamaican Rain, Eckstein, I Am Serious, Bella Martini, Moss Trip and Mandylion.

Analysing the chances further, we find that Eckstein, Jamaican Rain, Bella Martini. Moss Trip and Mandylion are the higher rated chances in the race.

With the addition of the two three year old fillies, we have 8 live winning chances.

From those, the best bets are Bella Martini $34.00 and Eckstein $26.00, with Fiesta $12.00 the overs.

Remember from our racing vernacular page, a long-priced winner is better for your pocket than a dozen short-priced winners.

Watch out for rain!

The potential spanner in the works this year is the prediction of rain so we should be wary of the prevailing track conditions.

There are some mares from our chances who love the wet tracks and they move up the betting options if the track becomes heavy.

These chances are Jamaican Rain, I Am Serious, Moss Trip and Mandylion. The latter is unbelievably at odds of $101.

Mandylion has been rated by myself at $21.00, a bit of Prince Of Penzance about her form assessment, so she should be added to all the exotics.

The $5M All Star Mile at Flemington

At Flemington, the All Star Mile is the headline act and it has brought together an interesting field.

I think the favourite, Alizee, is vulnerable so we will bet around her.

Happy Clapper is at $6.00. His Melbourne form is not quite as good as his Sydney form but he has been set for this race.

Hartnell is the overs at $11.00 and Material Man, is the real longshot and can improve here at $31.00.

New Zealand racing

The Group 1 in New Zealand this weekend is the NZ Oaks, where the two main chances have drawn wide.

The bet for me here is the Savabeel filly Clementina, from the Baker-Forsman stable, and is currently quoted at $13.00.

Hoping we have a bit more luck than last week.

As always, we wish everyone great success and lots of winners!
